Wreck King Cruiser

 

  

 

 

 

 

The King Cruiser is 85 meter lenght and 25 meters in wight. It`s a catamaran-style with four decks giving at a capacity of 900 passengers. The ship wath built in Japan about 30 years ago. Its normal route was from Phuket to Phi Phi Island.

 

 

 

 

 

On the 04.05.1997 at 10.30 AM the Cing Kruiser on a routine run to Phi Phi Island with about 600 passengers on bord struck the pinnacle ( know as Anemone Reef ). With a huge hole rippend though the ferry, it went down approximately 2 kilometers East of the Anemone Reef, with no loss life, most of the passengers were safely picked up by the dive and fishing boats. The wreck is now lying in an upright position with a maximum depth of 32 meters. The deck is 18 meters below the surface.

 

 

 

 

Marine Life

The wreck is home of fish with is incredible amount like the large groups of Big Eye Trevally with hunt over the wreck. Lion fish can be found towards the sandy bottom although they do like to hover in the car deck and the toilets. Scorpion fish can be found stuck to the metal railings. School of Baracudas, Snapper and Fusiliers dominate the sides. Lobster, Octupus and Hawksbill Turtle can be frequently seen.
