Phi Phi scuba diving ranks amongst the top 5 dive destinations in Thailand. Limestone cliffs rise dramatically out of the sea and plunge straight back down underwater, forming the colourful soft coral walls for which Phi Phi is famous.

There are more than 15 different dive sites with many rugged walls, interesting caves and cavern penetrations. Swim-through entrances are often obscured by dazzling clouds of glassfish and gorgonians. Sea fans harbour pipefish, seahorses and shrimpfish, keeping even the most experienced divers entertained for days.

Hin Bida

This is a large flat rock which can be seen riding above the water only at low tide. It is located to the east of Koh Bida Nok in the open sea, this is a popular dive site but diving is depentend on the condition oof the tides and waves. Below water you"ll find fantastic coral like the sea soft coral on the southeast finger, the staghorn coral field on the norteast. Sea fans and mushroom corals on the northen end and Broccoli soft coral and Sea Whip on the sandy bottom.

 

Marine Life

Hin Bida is like a viewing station for Leopard sharks witch exellent chance to see several of them resting on the sandy bottom. Turtle, Octopus and Cattle fish are often seen. Even without these sights the dive is still enjoyable with the more common forms such as Triggers fish, Snapper, Groupers and colorful fish like Moorish Idol, Angel fish, Butterfly fish, Anemone fish and beautiful Yellow Trompet fish. Lion fish can be fond hiding from the current on the side of the rocks, look carefuly for Scorpions fish and Moray eels. Eagle rays and Whale shark can be frequently seen at the right time of year.

May Bay

May bay is located on the west tip of Koh Phi Phi Ley. It is surrounded by steep limestone cliffs and in the corner of the bay lies a beautiful white sandy beach. Althoug the area can get busy as it a popular for sightseeing. snorkeling and diving.

The most popular dive point is to the northwest corner of the bay with beautiful rock formations decorated. With multicolor corals, like the sea fans, Soft coral, Table coral, Staghorn coral and Mushroom coral. The are also holds several swim through.

The southwest corner of the bay is for divers who like to do cave and wall diving. This is the biggest underwater cave around the Island. It is located exactly at the southwest corner wall. The entrance lays at about 13 meters below the surface wich is more then 15 meters wide. In side you will find a huge room and on the right corner is a swim through that comes out to the middle of the wall. Along this wallthere are beautiful sea soft coral and the sea fans.

Marine Life

All along the walls look out for Lobsters and many different kinds of nudibrand, Moray eels and Scorpion fish can be foung hiding in the rocks. Some colorful fish like Moorish Idol, Angel fish, Butterfly fish, Anemone fish. Snapers and Groupers are also common here. Turtle, Octopus, Leopard Shark are often seen well. This is located at the southern tip of Koh Phi Phi Ley and is sourrounded by steep limestone cliffs with one limestone rocky island in the middle of bay creating a horse shoe shape. The area. The area area is famous for snorkeling and diving with am impressive area of coral in the shallow areas of the bay. Most dive guids elect to dive around the rock in the middle which holds beautiful Golden Sea fans ans a channel cutting through the roch to the soud side. Also a dive along the southwest wall is highly recommended when your"ll find mulicolored sea soft corals and sea fans. It even possible to dive the east corner of the bay where rocky formations are interdispersed witch patches of staghorn coral, sea whip corals and sea fans.

Marine Life

There is a large amount of the Lion fish that hover around this site. A whole yariety of Trigger fish, sea Snaks can be found poking around for food, look carefully for the scorpio fish and many more colorful fish like the Bullet head Parrotfish, Butterfly fish, Moorish Idol, and many beautiful damselfish. Schools of two spot snappers can be found in the bay, yellow tiger tail sea horsese at the southwest wall and look for banded boxer shrimp in the cracks. You will also get the occasionl visit from Hawksbill turtles and leopard sharks.

Koh Bida Nok

Koh Bida Nok is on of Phi Phi idlands group and means the outer island. This is located ton the south of koh Phi Phi Ley, as with Koh Bida Nai it is one of the best dive areas of Phi Phi island. Fantastic underwater reefs adorn the whole area. The north side consists of a wall which is decorated by mulicolored soft corals, a group of Golden sea fans and patchy stanghorn coral sits upon a sloping reef on the east side. A smal bay with the sandy patches and a pinnacle once again decorated by milticolored soft corals, sea whips, sea fans and table coral lie in the sout area. Along the west side holds beautiful roch formations and coral communnities.

Marine Life

Backtip reef sharks are more common to this dive site usually found in the shallows on the east side. Leopard sharks and Turtle are often seen. Triggers fish, Groupers, Puffers and Porcupine fish are all common here. Blue spotted Stingray san be seenout over the sandy bottom and look look up to the surface. As many times you may see schools of Squids and Crocodile needle fish.  swimming close together. Banded Sea snakes, Octopus can also be seen, along with many colorful fish like Moorish Idols, Lion fish, Parrot fish and Damselfish. Once again for the lucky diverthe area cam be visited by a Whal Shark and oceanic nomads like Rainbow runner or Tuna.

Koh Bida Nai

Koh Bida Nai means " the inner island " it is located between koh Phi Ley and Koh Bida Nok and is one of the most popular Phi Phi  island dive sites. The impressive coral reef is a wonder to explore. The northen side holds beautiful Golden sea fans and sea soft corals. The east side is consistant of fringing reef which slope gently outward to sandy areas. The south area has many patches of staghorn coral filtering out to the fantasia reef. The west side is consists of beautiful rock formations leading to an easy swim through.

Marine Life

Backtip reef sharks area often seen in the shallow water on the west and east side. Leopard shark lie sleeply on the sandy areas. Chevron Barracudas, Big Eye Treavally and Turtles can often be seen at fantasia reef. Yellow -edged, moray`s find their way through the sponge coral, also Batfish, Lion fish, Snappers, Groupers, Tigger fish, Pocupine Puffer fish are common secies here. Some of oceanic nomads like Tuna, Rainbow runners also frequent the area, but those who are lucky, Whale Sharks and the delight of the dive site.
