For your information

You will not find low cost diving here with us.

There are a lot of competitors in Ao Nang Just like everywhere else. Unfortunately, they do not always take their work seriously. In order to offer low cost diving quality is sacrificed and the customer is left with an inferior package. The following tricks are sadly at hand:

1. Some dive boats are unable to go out to open see with waves over 1m in height. The operators are aware of this and take bookings none the less. In the morning the trips are then altered due to bad weather to the local islands instead.

2. If you are diving in Phi-Phi find out which dive sites they are going to. Many companies will only go as far as Phi-Phi Don, and complete 2 or 3 dives around Ao Nui or Mosquito Island in order to save fuel. The better dive sites are further away.

3. Outside of the main season often bookings are taken for the next day, even though there are no other guest. In the morning the trip is then postponed to the following day with the hope to have more customers the following day. The customer is told the excuse that the boat has a minor defect but will be fixed the next day.

4. Some boats are too slow to offer 3 dives to phi-phi. In order to compete they then will simply dive the same site several times, and make dives back to the boat so you will have to swim half your dive against the current thereby reducing your dive time to 30-40 minutes.

5. On many boats money is saved on food and drink. From noon onwards there are no longer any soft drinks available
.
6. Some dive operators employ Divemasters that have never dived these waters before, what do you expect them to show you?

7. Make sure you see your dive equipment in the shop
Before booking. There is some very poor unserviced equipment in circulation.

8. Make sure the dive operator has a TAT (Tourist Authority Thailand) license
and number. Without one a dive shop is not allowed to operate and legally does not even exist.

9. The same applies for Dive insurance.

10. Check who you are diving with. Some guides are not even qualified to be Divemasters.

11. Some day-trips are done on long-tail boats. Do they have first aid, oxygen, toilet, radio, safety?

12. Do check out the weather report yourself. With waves higher than 2m diving may not be so much fun anymore, although some of us won't admit it.

Right. We are not trying to convince you not to dive here in Ao Nang, some of the above mentioned problems can be found world wide. We just want to help you ask the right questions and make the right decisions so you can relax, enjoy yourself and make the most of your diving holiday here. There are enough serious working Dive operators here that offer a good price and service.

Unsere Tauchphilosophie.
