PADI - CMAS (Barakuda)
PADI – CMAS two dive organizations, here are some explanations.
So we will try to explain this for you.
CMAS – In Europe the CMAS-system is well-known and special to the area close to the Mediterranean Sea, there CMAS is
more popular than PADI. Many dive clubs in Europe follow the BARAKUDA-standards and this is also known as CMAS-standards.
CMAS beginners courses, CMAS* Open Water Diver takes 3-4 days. You will have theory lessons and an education in confined water
as well as 5 open water dives. After your course you should start collecting experience and improve your knowledge in deep sea
diving. After 30 dives you can do your CMAS** Master Diver. In this course you will learn how you can help yourself and your buddy.
PADI - means "Professional Association of Diving Instructions" and comes from the U.S.A.
It is well-known in U.S.A., Asia, and the Caribbean.
The PADI-way is a mixture of theory combined with practical skills in pool, open water and time in the class-room.
A beginner course will take 4-5 days normally. You will learn the theory you will need to know to become a diver, where you
will start in the pool and finish in the open water. After this course we recommend you take the "advanced open water diver".
You will gain experience in deep and night diving. For this course you will need 2 more days.
CMAS (BARAKUDA) and PADI are two organizations that are recognised world wide. It is hard to give a recommendation but both
recognise each other. You can change your dive organisation at any time and continue to do the next level in the other dive
organization.
You should not get misled by these possibilities, because a good education is a result of the dive instructor not the
organization that you choose.
